Used in French armoury for the little triangular projections on the fesse, pale, etc., of a different colour or metal. In English heraldry, the term refers generally to the form of the line itself. The former meaning of the term would be expressed in English as dentated. In the coat of the patrician family of Onsorg, we have arg., a fesse, sable, voided arg., cottised arg., and counterdentated sable
